DVR Playback Problems

This is a problem I've reported in the past and thought it was only happening with the recording of Fox News programs, but's happened two nights in a row this week, and it's been happening to all of the recordings of shows recorded only from TV Everywhere. All local, OTA programs, record and playback fine.

After this happening the first night, I rebooted my server (QNAP TS-1277 w/AMD Ryzen 5 1600 6-core/12-thread 3.2 GHz processor (Turbo Core to 3.6 GHz)), updated Channels to Version
2023.02.15.0204, and then stopped/restarted Channels on the server for good measure. For the record, we have Cox Gigabit internet service, and have a wired gigabit home network. Last night when we went to watch our recordings, all of the recordings from OTA looked & worked fine, but every recording from our streaming service, Vidgo, all had the 'Recording was interrupted' indicator on them, and while watching, the video, they all randomly fast forward.

tmm1, do you have any setup suggestions for me to check? In the past, it seemed like it only did it on one streaming channel, and would clear up the next day. If this keeps happening, I may have to go back to using my Plex system to record my OTA programming, and pay for Vidgo's DVR system.

the problem is happening during recording, not playback. if the recording is messed up then playback will suffer.

your recordings come from network servers using TVE, not vidgo

unless you submit diagnostics from your DVR we have no way to investigate.

Thanks for responding, but I don't see the 'fast-forward' problem if I'm watching the stream, only when I play a recording. Yesterday, I recorded 'The Five', and watched it at the same time. No problem when watching it 'live', but when I played it back, I experienced the 'fast-forward' problem. Does the Channels DVR function use a different stream to record from than the stream you watch when watching it 'live'?

What diagnostics from my DVR do you need to investigate, and where/how do I get them? Are there any special settings I need in my Channels DVR on my server?

I pulled the log from last night from just before 'The Five' until just after it ended. Like I said, during playback, the video would do a 'fast-forward' skip. I see some 'fails' but I don't know what it means or what caused it.

Saw the same issues Tues and Wed on Fox News during The Five. Unable to watch live without losing connection. Recording less skips was okay. Fox seems to be playing okay today with no dropped connections.
FWIW, I think it was just internet hiccups as my mother's Pi server saw no issues on Fox News recordings (afternoon and early evening).

Dvr web ui > support > troubleshooting > submit diagnostics then post back with the diagnostics code it gives you.

Thanks for the help. Yesterday we didn't have any problems like we had the two previous days. I just find it strange that when this happens, if you watch the stream live while it's being recorded, it seems to play okay but was doing quick fast-forwarding when watching the recording.

I'll keep an eye on it and in the future, I'll know how to provide the proper troubleshooting data.
