I've had an issue over the last week where the DVR will record or start recording shows, but the playback will not start.
I can tell when this is happening as the preview window is blank when looking at the recording:
and then when I start a recording, the time says 0 and the pin wheel spins with a blank screen:
Only way I can get it to work again is to restart my mini, but that kills off any current recordings

Something’s up with the disk. Creating directories and files should never fail, but are returning “resource busy” errors on your setup.
What filesystem is the drive formatted as? What version of macOS?
It’s a new drive I bought to use with the DVR.
It’s a Seagate drive over USB, running HFS+ on 10.11.6.
