DVR Records Movie that [perhaps updated] Guide says Does not Exist

As you can see from the logs below, the DVR started recording Four Wedding and a Funeral At 8 PM last night. The problem is, the guide correctly showed Great Performances was on channel 9.1 in that time slot. In fact, I started a recording on Great Perfromances also (in-progress)! You’ll see that in the logs too. I don’t know if Four Weddings was once scheduled for this time slot, but, if so, the guide was corrected. Yet, the scheduled recording happened anyway. I think this happened at least once before, but I didn’t notice until much later, so I can’t say for sure if the guide was correct at air time.

@tmm1, would you have a look?

Passes reschedule their recordings based on the guide data, but movies and episodes scheduled directly do not.

This is a long standing defect that needs to be addressed. I guess the DVR should go through all movies scheduled to be recorded and reschedule any which have moved to a different time slot.

The tricky part is what happens if the movie disappears from the guide completely. Once we delete the scheduled job there’s no way to tell you wanted to record it (so we can’t schedule automatically if it appears again).

The same problem exists for one-off episode recordings.

In this case, the movie disappeared completely. IMHO, the correct behavior is to remove the movie/program completely. Keep it simple.

Okay, I guess as long as it logs when that happens it’s probably fine. I’ll take a stab at it later this week.

@DebbieFL records a lot of movies and has run into this too. I thought we had discussed previously on the forum but I couldn’t find the thread.

I agree: if deleted from guide…delete from schedule. As I think most are just rescheduled by the broadcaster.

IMO, it woulld also be great to have DVR auto re-schedule to correct time/date if guide changes. Only caveat, one needs to check DVR schedule again close to recording date to ensure no conflict was created.

Mostly, this occurs on the oddball channels, like “E” and usually because I schedule movies three weeks out, when they are added to guide. I always have to check those recordings after completion as a few every month or so…are titled with the name of the movie I wanted to record, however the actual recording is not for that movie. And then I have to manually reschedule at a later time, if still available.
