DVR Remote access doesn't work very well on currently recording shows

I just installed the DVR Remove Access beta for iOS and I tested the following:

  • Local WiFi - previous recording (Original Quality) streamed well
  • Local WiFi - currently recording show (Original Quality) - streamed well
  • LTE - previous recording (2mbps) streamed well
  • LTE - currently recording show (2mbps all the way down to the lowest bitrate) – slow to load (like 30 seconds of black screen and spinning thing) then very choppy and unwatchable after that.

I’m not sure why watching a currently recording show would work over WiFi and not over LTE but … that’s what’s happening.

Can you try the latest beta and set Home Streaming to 2mbps and see if the same issue occurs (when watching in-progress recording on Local Wifi)

I updated to the latest beta this AM and changed the settings to 2mbps for all. The results were hit and miss. I was able to watch over my local Wifi no problem, but when I switched to LTE, it worked ok, but there were still a couple issues:

  1. it paused, and skipped back to the beginning a couple times
  2. skipping ahead 30s was very unreliable and slow
  3. it still took quite a while to load initially.

I too have seen #2,3 as well when watching an in-progress recording remotely.

Also, when watching an existing recording, starting and scrubbing (forward and back) work lickity split, as expected, even if i just started watching, but pressing skip forward is very slow, especially for a double skip to skip commercials.
