DVR running on Synology cannot find HomeRun

I’ve installed Channels DVR 1.0.2 on a Synology DS1513+. It seems to be running OK, but it cannot find the HD HomeRun Connect through ‘Scan Network’. If I use the ‘Add Tuner manually’ option and input the IP address, then a device shows up, but it’s not fully recognized (no model name) and shows as having 0 channels.

The DVR tab has showed up on the main Channels App but it just keeps telling me to go to the DVR settings page to finish setting things up.

I’d appreciate any advice as to how to get this running. Thanks!

You need to pick the guide data on the settings page.

Does the Channels app’s Settings page show any firmware updates for your HDHR?

What is the exact model as listed in the Channels app?

The HDHR is running version 20161117 which looks to be up to date I think. All that the Synology Channels DVR can see is the Device ID number, nothing else. Synology is running DSM 6.1-15047 Update 2.

Seems to be some sort of communication problem between the NAS and the HDHR. Possibly due to your network setup, as it looks like your NAS is assigned two different IPs.

It’s possible you may need to change your Synology settings to “bond” the two network adapters together.

Can you visit http://192.168.0.23:8089/system/network and post the results.

Here it is:

[{“mtu”:65536,“name”:“lo”,“hardwareaddr”:"",“flags”:[“up”,“loopback”],“addrs”:[{“addr”:“127.0.0.1/8”},{“addr”:"::1/128"}]},{“mtu”:1480,“name”:“sit0”,“hardwareaddr”:"",“flags”:null,“addrs”:[]},{“mtu”:1500,“name”:“eth0”,“hardwareaddr”:“00:11:32:30:a6:49”,“flags”:[“up”,“broadcast”,“multicast”],“addrs”:[{“addr”:“192.168.0.23/24”},{“addr”:“2605:a601:41e8:2200:211:32ff:fe30:a649/64”},{“addr”:“fe80::211:32ff:fe30:a649/64”}]},{“mtu”:1500,“name”:“eth1”,“hardwareaddr”:“00:11:32:30:a6:4a”,“flags”:[“up”,“broadcast”,“multicast”],“addrs”:[{“addr”:“169.254.159.93/16”}]},{“mtu”:1500,“name”:“eth2”,“hardwareaddr”:“00:11:32:30:a6:4b”,“flags”:[“up”,“broadcast”,“multicast”],“addrs”:[{“addr”:“169.254.254.211/16”}]},{“mtu”:1500,“name”:“eth3”,“hardwareaddr”:“00:11:32:30:a6:4c”,“flags”:[“up”,“broadcast”,“multicast”],“addrs”:[{“addr”:“192.168.0.203/24”}]}]

Okay that looks fine. Try either bonding your NICs, or unplugging one of the cables to see if that makes any difference?

OK - found it! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I have everything connected to LAN 1 on the Synology. However, LAN 4 was set to use a static IP (from long, long ago…) even though there is nothing connected. Reverting LAN 4 to DHCP has solved the problem.

Many thanks for the very prompt help.
