DVR Server Crashes and Hangs on MacOS

I have been experiencing DVR Server crashes or hangs about every couple of days. Server running on a Mac mini i7, MacOS 10.14 (needed for compatibility with other software), ChannelsDVR folder on a Netgear NAS, all gigabit wired with 1 gigabit fiber to the outside world. Currently the DVR Server software is the only thing running on a fresh MacOS install.

Typical client symptoms are:

  • Cannot watch TVE recordings
  • Cannot tune TVE channels
  • In the Recordings tab, scheduled TVE recordings that should have finished still show in progress with no error indication, and shows that should be currently recording are not listed
  • HDHR channels and recordings seem to be watchable

Typical server computer symptoms are:

  • DVR Server will shut down but not restart via menu bar Restart command
  • Server computer hangs on shutdown via Apple menu Restart..., requires hard restart

Occasional symptoms:

  • Loss of TVE sources in the source list and TVE channels in the guide on clients
  • Failure of the web interface to load; page loads partially with spinning arrow circle
  • HDHR channels and recordings are not watchable

A hard restart of the server computer seems to temporarily restore normal operation.

I have sent multiple emails to support with logs but haven't heard anything back. Latest logs have been submitted as d781e266-5e70-48bc-8018-5dd451eb6be3.

First guess would be that it’s losing connection to the NAS, which is causing the hang. Hopefully the logs will tell the story.
