I got a chance to implement this for the next build. Now Windows will prompt you if you try to shut down or reboot while the DVR is busy. I hope this also means Windows won't auto-reboot after update while the DVR is recording.
Pre-release build v2017.04.22.0146 with the new shutdown/restart prevention feature is now available.
Run this in powershell to update:
Invoke-WebRequest -Method Put -UseBasicParsing http://127.0.0.1:8089/updater/check/2017.04.22.0146
