DVR Support

Hi I’ve been running HDhomerun prime with comcast, the main system is windows media centre on Win 8.1

Everything works great, but i am aware that the support will run out soon, also I’ve been upgrading to macs.
I also run NAS4FREE 8tb to which i am replacing with a WD My cloud EX2, I’m in the process of streamlining everything. I also use nextpvr and kodi on other devices which works great.

I have an apple tv which I’m using for live tv with channels working super great, and the reason i got the apple tv is hopefully to run some DVR on it at some point.

So that being said i understand that the DVR is in beta, my question is how is the Recordings saved, on a Network hd or local usb hdd , and how would i get to test the DVR beta software ?

Thanks

My understanding was the old Beta supported only the HDHR DVR recording engine, but they have ripped all the source code out of Channels because of the delays in features from SiliconDust. They (Channels) will be releasing a new Channels Beta which will support their own recording engine, but it hasn’t been released yet.

The “old” Channels DVR Beta was based on a beta recording engine being developed by SiliconDust, SD, hardware supplier of HDHR Prime and other TV tuners.

Due to slow progess (1 year and counting) on Beta engine by SD, the Channels developers recently decided to develop their own solution from the ground up. They are currently coding for this project.

The earliest that we can expect a “Beta” is probably sometime in July. See DVR State of the Union thread in the Channels DVR category for more info.

There are also some relevant threads which address hardware, beta testers, etc. in the same category.
