Emby Movie and TV Import

Just really getting into Channels DVR and reading about Virtual Channels. I have an Emby library with several thousand Moves and TV shows.

I have Channels and Emby both setup on Unraid as Dockers.

  1. If I import them in, will it make any changes to the file structure I have setup for Emby? I don't want anything changed, just to have Channels read the Movies and TV Shows and be able to play them. That may sound weird but I have everything setup the way I want it in Emby and don't want anything changed in the file system :slight_smile:

  2. I know this is an Unraid question but how do I point to my Movies and TV Shows on Unraid, the only file structure I can see in Channels is inside of the Docker container.

If you point Channels to your library, it won't make any changes to the actual video files. It may add some files depending on the settings you have. For example, it may create edl or json files defining the commercial locations, etc. But, Channels doesn't modify the video files themselves.

I also found my answer to #2. I just had to add an additional Path to the Unraid docker and point it to my Media files location. Then in Channels, I could point it to that path.

Additionally, you may want to turn off the ability to delete things in Channels. You can set it to just imports.

You can do this on the server via Server Side Settings and have it set for every client. Or just the ones you want.
