Empty Guide Every Week

The TV Guide always comes up empty every week. I have to go to the DVR server to force “Redownload Guide” in order to show the TV guide on Channels App.

It’s been like this for months. And my family is very frustrated with this.

What’s the cause of that? How can I fix this?

The next time this happens before you redownload the guide, please Submit Diagnostics and give us the ID and also take a screenshot of the Guide from the DVR web UI.

  1. How to gather diagnostics?
  2. Where do I find “ID”?
  3. Do I post the above 2 information here in reply or email to Support?

Please go to Support -> Troubleshooting -> Submit Diagnostic Logs from the web interface of the DVR and let us know when it's been submitted.

I have same issue using Apple TV client. However, Guide data does appear in the quick guide thing when you press down on the remote. Sometimes it is the opposite, where quick guide is blank and regular guide data is populated. I usually reboot the Apple TV to solve it.

Edit - let me add that I notice this with Pluto TV guide data that normally only goes out for about 12hrs. And the problem occurs more often than 1 wk.

Edit Edit - Even though, right now, no guide data shown in either the full guide or the quick guide for Pluto TV, when I tune to something I have already recorded, it still prompts to watch from library or live.
And for my OTA channels, right now I have guide data in the normal guide but not the quick guide.

So I am having the exact same issue but every 24 hours. Guide is fine one day then overnight the data vanishes. Web client force redownload of guide data and it's OK again.

OK same thing this morning, it only seems to effect some channels, but from the same source (m3u playlist). It is the same in FireTV, Android and Web clients. When I go to settings>live tv & dvr>redownload entire guide they populate fine.

How is the guide defined for those channels? Is it a separate XMLTV? Are they defined using tvc-guide-stationid tags in the playlist? Are they manually set using the DVR web UI?

Also, does each channel in the playlist have a unique channel-id tag (stated as required in the documentation)? And what do the logs say when the daily guide update occurs; are there any errors?

You would have to look at your XMLTV file to see if some channels aren't providing you 24 hours of guide content. Have you shortened the refresh for the XMLTV guide to something smaller?
