Error Checking For Update

I have an error in my logfile 'Error checking for update: Get "https://channels-dvr.s3.amazonaws.com/latest.json": dial tcp: i/o timeout'

I have also noticed that I have no artwork/metadata when I select on a programme on the TV guide.

I thought it may be my firewall but I disabled, tried again and the same problem persists. Only other thing I can think of is my DNS server?

If it was a name resolution (DNS) issue the error would likely be different. This looks like it was able to resolve the name but the connection is timing out. This would point to an internet connectivity or firewall issue of some kind happening.

I've had the Error checking for update in my logs and it's usually the Channels DVR service is down when it happens.

I would be more concerned with your issue of no artwork/metadata when selecting a programme in the guide (not sure what that means exactly). Do they (artwork/metadata) appear in the DVR web UI and just not in some client device (which one), or?

Thanks for replies and help with this.

After a bit of research I have found out that I think its an IP address conflict when using a VPN on the client that hosts the channels server. I have had no issues up until last week with using the VPN on the client that hosts the channels server so tried to think what had changed. It turns out my ISP IP address changed last week and then I get an error in the log that the channels dvr server is pointed to the IP address that the VPN had assigned.

If I then disconnect the VPN then reconnect then the channels DVR.net is now pointed at my ISP IP address correctly and I am then having none of the issues I reported before. Its all very confusing but I just need to remember to disconnect and re-connect my VPN if my ISP IP address changes.

I understand the error as channelsdvr.net is pointed at my VPN IP address which wouldn't work but if i then reconnect my VPN channelsdvr.net points at my ISP IP address again.
