Are those events blacked out perhaps?
Hi - apologies for this question: I'm interested in trying this and I can see that there was been quite a journey for you all. It's impressive!
However, the thread is very long and (to be honest) a bit daunting / confusing for a newbie like me.
Is there a consolidated summary on how to do this, or a particular posting # someone can direct me to?
Thx
@m0ngr31 Are you still considering this at all? Iād love the ability to have all of the FOX 4K events on a consistent channel number that I can go to without looking at a huge guide.
Also, thanks for all your work thus far
Are you familiar with running dockers?
What system are you using or will be running your docker on?
This isnāt a fix for you but I spin up multiple separate dockers running just 1 channel. So ESPN linear has its own docker and designated channel. You can only do this with ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC, ACC and Longhorn.
Thanks for the workaround! I might try this tonight, since I rely on Channelsā built-in TVE for everything else and donāt subscribe to ESPN+.
Just curious, is there a benefit to using this Docker vs. TVE for those ESPN channels?
Not really that I have found as ESPN isnāt providing 4k the way FOX is. The reason I tried it is as a backup in case TVE decided to act up. Also I just wanted the guide a little cleaner instead of randomly sorted.
I'm guessing the best way to check would see if it's accessible with the official app regarding blackouts. I don't believe they were but I'll check against the official apps moving forward. Does Docker show anything in the log that would indicate a blackout error?
This is weird. I downloaded and logged in on the official Fox app. I see that Wisconsin and Ohio State game on Thursday, February 2nd. But, searching Channels it shows up but only on the TVE FS1 Channel for me..
Go to search.
Type Wisconsin
Select Wisconsin basketball icon
You should see the Live and rerun selections.
If youāre not seeing it, check your Directv Stream source.
It's showing at the right time tomorrow on my FS1 TVE channel. Not showing up though as as a listing on the ESPN + Channels in the guide like other Fox events have.
I donāt try and record from the linear channels that Channels already allow me access too; just ESPN+.
You might try a search in your docker log. Iāve had some luck there.
The only time I couldnāt find a game was when I didnāt have enough channels. After Joe increased the number to 150 channels, my game was assigned on channel 101. If you are utilizing all the potential stations, you might have run out of available channels. My guide shows ESPN+ using 76 channels in that time spot of your game.
Maybe try nuking the entries.db and schedule.db files and restarting the container?
You'll have to clear out the entries in Channels since it will want to cache the previous ones for a while
No not really. The errors I get from FOX are usually pretty cryptic. Best guess would be that your tokens expired or something? Hard to say
Probably at some point, but it's not at the top of my list right now
It finally showed up for me on eplus channel X076
I have a somewhat related question. Does anyone know a method to capture or record ESPN+ on-demand content? I assume this isn't something EPlusTV can do.
I did that. Then on the server side under guide maintenance told it to "delete and recreate database" then it did finally show on the ESPN guide. I don't think the number of channels should have been an issue because I have -e NUM_OF_CHANNELS=400 as part of the command line.
