Exclude channels from passes or auto set channel number

Is there a way to always exclude channels from series passes that i setup.

If set up a series pass for new episodes of a show on a channel. It wants to record the show on Channel "X" and then again on "X" +1 an hour later

Effectively recording the same thing twice straight after each other.

I know i can include and exclude channels as part of a pass but to have to do this every time seems abit unnecessary.

Is there any logic to handle this?

and/or, If i set up a pass from the guide, is there a way to auto set the channel number to that channel and nothing else?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "the same thing". Do you mean the same season and episode numbers?
If so, that's not possible with a pass because the DVR doesn't record duplicates.

If it is an hour program, then add an extra hour of padding to the end. (Granted, it will record as a single episode instead of two, but it will do what you desire.)
