Experiencing an issue with multiple HDHomeRun Connect (OTA)

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing an issue with multiple HDHomeRun Connect (OTA) tuners. I originally configured Channels DVR with 1 HD HomeRun Connect, however, tonight, I have added 2 more.

I added the tuners to Channels via the Apple TV app. I had to update firmware on 1, and made sure to rescan available OTA channels on all tuners. When I checked on the Channels DVR settings page (on my QNAP TS-453 Pro), the 2 new tuners were not available. I had the settings page rescan for the tuners, and then it added them to the list.

I tried to record more than 2 shows at once, but it would only record 1 show and then queued another show (since I was trying to record other channels to test the other tuners). I have restarted the Channels DVR service via the QNAP “My Apps” page as well just so the Channels DVR service had a full restart and could re-initialize the list of tuners added.

I checked the Channels Log, and noticed I was getting a 503 error which means tuner unavailable.

The original tuner that Channels was configured with is working as expected. Is there a step I’m missing? Should I just remove the app, then re-install the app to see if that makes any difference?

Thanks for any help!

Did you assign the guide code to each of the HDHRs you want to use with the DVR?

Quick reply. Thank you!

I set it via the Channels App on Apple TV, but you’re correct, in that the tuners didn’t have the guide code set on the Channels DVR interface on the NAS.

All tuners are working properly now. Thank you very much. I forgot to check that part.

I ran into this too, a possible improvement would be to add a notification to the settings screen for this condition.

I agree that visual indications for each data point that needs interaction should be highlighted or red so that someone without familiarity could install the DVR without help.
