Experiencing lag when fast forwarding or skipping in Channels DVR

"I've been noticing that my Channels DVR is sometimes lagging when I try to skip through commercials or fast forward in a recording. The playback is smooth at normal speed, but when I try to jump ahead, it stutters a bit.

I’ve got a 4TB drive with plenty of space left, and I’m not recording anything that should be causing a bottleneck. Has anyone experienced this or know what might be causing the lag? Any tips on how to fix it?"

This symptom is usually related to network speed. If your server is connected via WiFi, try connecting it via ethernet. You did not state what client you are using so the option of connecting it via ethernet will vary. That said, a fast WiFi connection to a wired server will likely solve your issue. Please run a "Test speed to DVR server" are provide the results here. That will tell us if you have an issue. In general, 100Mb is good and anything over 200Mb will be very good.

When I first started using Channels DVR I had similar symptoms. In my case I changed the Streaming Quality options for Home and Internet Streaming to Original and also changed the Original Quality Delivery to Stream. This instantly resolved my issues when fast forwarding or skipping ahead. These options are set for each client individually or can be set to force all clients to use the settings in the Client Setting Overide on the server settings.
