I’m currently outside the US and have the Channels DVR Rasberry Pi Server connected to a flashed VPN router. I’ll be traveling quite a bit though, and am wondering: Is it possible to launch the ExpressVPN app on the channels server when I’m unable to connect the to VPN router?
More info on the OS please? Channels image? Raspbian? Ubuntu?
I have some experience with the ExpressVPN router firmware and remember an option to block connections when the vpn is disconnected, have you thought about just enabling that and being done?
The channels app / server does not have any built in support for vpn, because why would it.
You'll have to get ExpressVPN on the RPi and have it launch and connect on boot, which would somewhat defeat the purpose of your flashed router? You'll be toggling them on and off and such I would think because now you have 2 vpns.
The RPi is running the Channels image. And that's exactly what I'd like to do - to have ExpressVPN launched on the Pi at boot. This would be for the times where I'm traveling throughout Thailand (where I'm currently at). The flashed router is at my home in Bangkok, allowing me to access my Xfinity in the States. But I won't bring the flashed router to hotels, as most no longer have ethernet connections.
