Does channels DVR automatically extend live broadcasts if they pass their scheduled end time? Can I extend a live recording like add padding to it if the recording has started already and I see the show is going to go over the stop time? I think I might have some situations with live sports that I am recording.

The recordings are scheduled based on guide data, and if they go over the guide data usually doesn’t reflect that. So the answer is no, not automatically.
Yes you can add padding at any time and it will work even if the recording is already in progress.
When scheduling a recording, you can click Options where you can adjust start/end padding for the recording. If the program is Live, Channels will prompt you to add some end padding just in case it goes over.
