Extended recording marked as watched unexpectedly

I recorded an event (Formula 1) where I have the season pass set to extend the recording by 60 min. So the actual program was set for 150 min so the entire extended recording was 210 min.

I viewed the recording and stopped around the 150 min mark and noticed that when I went back to the recording, it was marked as completely watched and started me back from the beginning when I started watching it again.

To troubleshoot, I went forward and stopped watching around 135 min into the recording and the “show info” green progress bar properly showed that I watched about 60% or so. When I continued the show it started where I left off. When I then forwarded and stopped around 145 min, the green bar showed completely full, displaying that I finished watching the show.

It seems that the show progress is being calculated based on the original shows length, not the entire recording if it was extended.

Is this intended behavior? I would prefer that the “watched progress” take into account the entire extended recording since, in this particular case, I had some additional stuff I wanted to watch when I went back to the recording after the 150 min mark.

Sounds like a bug. Did you extend the recording after it had already started?

No. The season pass is setup to add 60 min to the end time which was setup in advance.

This is actually the appropriate behavior. At first it worked the way you describe that you expected it to work: it required the entire recording to be watch to mark as watched.

This ended up being unfavorable due to the scenarios that extra padding is usually used. It’s usually used, like you did, for sports in case the event goes long. The issue is that it’s more likely that the event doesn’t go long, than it actually does go long. This created a scenario where EVERY event recorded needed a full watching to be marked as watched.

The fact that it’s the less common case, we changed it to require the original duration to have a higher rate of marking things as watched.

I hope that help explains it.

Understandable. Thanks for the reply.

I’m curious, what is the calculation that’s done to consider a “normal length” show to be fully watched?

If you reach 95% (ignoring start and end padding), the recording is considered watched.

Is this able to be customized at all? I've been trying to watch a doubleheader baseball recording where I simply extended the original game to a 6 hour recording so it worked capture both full games. Now, as I'm trying to watch game 2, each time I stop watching, it starts me at the beginning. I pretty much always delete a recording after I complete watching it, so is there a way to disable or customize the auto mark as watched?
