External access not working

Hi all

I mailed support but thought I would also try here in case there is a known solution.

I can’t seem to be able to get external access working.

I know the port is open as I can hit it using my public IP address when external but when I try to use my.channelsdvr.net I get the following :

5050cff900f3.channelsdvr.net’s server IP address could not be found.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Am I missing something ?

Hi there,

Looks like perhaps something went wrong with the setup/remote activation - assuming the *.channelsdvr.net hostname is correct, it doesn't resolve to an IP for me either (and it should do).

Other similar posts for remote access seemed to suggest:

  1. Visit http://MY-DVR-IP:8089/auth/refresh (changing MY-DVR-IP for your actual dvr IP)
  2. Then try toggling Remote Access off and back on.

Thanks - no joy on the refresh. As I mentioned, I was coming back from Plex and had no recordings so I uninstalled and reinstalled, still no luck.

The log shows the following every 60 mins and I can hit it with my public IP on port 8089 so the router part is good.

2020/01/19 12:26:43.406390 [NAT] Successfully mapped port 8089 using natpmp

I also saw a mention of the certificate being successful - seems the channelsdvr.net URL just does not resolve.

Been out all day - came back and all is good - didn't do anything but seems to be OK now.
