With season pass recordings in particular, I keep getting these errors. It says that the program started before the recording started even though I had a buffer set so that recording started 1 minute before the program is due to start. Screen shot below
Is there any way to stop this happening, or for that matter, a way of keeping the recording so that I can see manually if it is OK or not?
This usually means your Mac is going to sleep and missing the recording

Thanks but this is definitely not it. It is successfully recording programs before, during and after.
The Mac is also set to not go to sleep.
Perhaps someone is turning it off then. Scroll back on the Log tab to one of the times it was supposed to record and didn't, and copy/paste the log messages shown
The log doesn't go back that far but perhaps I had insufficient tuners at the time of the recording? Could that have caused the error?
I'm the only user with access to the system currently so it wouldn't be that someone else had turned it off.

The log is simply not there for that far back. The log is always showing it starting at 1337 this afternoon no matter how big I make the number.
Huh. Check ~/Library/Application Support/ChannelsDVR/data/channels-dvr.log
(Or find the TV icon in the Mac menu bar next to the clock and select View Log).
Could it be that due to pre-start and post-completion buffer times (say adding 2 mins at each end of the recording), could it have simply been that I had insufficient tuners at the time the recording was due to start? Would that create that error?
If that is the cause, it would be great to have a way of prioritising recordings. I know it is possible to prioritise season passes but I cannot see a way of setting priorities across all recordings (including movies).
I can't say what caused it without seeing the logs..

Looks like all tuners were busy, so either too many things scheduled or there was padding which was causing problems.
I've uploaded a new beta build which ensures the error message is saved as "all tuners in use" for these cases instead of the confusing "program already started" you saw. To update, click-and-hold on the Check for Update button.

Is there a way to prioritise Movie recording over TV? I had a similar issue with a movie earlier and would rather not lose in place of a TV episode.

Incidentally, I’ve just found a film where the First ~40 mins or so was missing; presumably because a tuner wasn’t available. It would be great to have these flagged in some way so that they can be checked.
Strange. If more than three minutes pass then the recording is not attempted, so it would be unexpected to miss 40min. Can you find the logs for that recording?
