I’ve only been using the DVR for a few days and just came across my first issue. We had two shows that run from 7-9pm and 1 from 8-9pm. We have 3 tuners on our HDHR Prime. I confirmed all 3 were set to record. My wife went to start watching the 8-9pm recording at about 20 after and noticed it wasn’t showing as recording. It was no longer in the schedule for the day either. It shows it is set to record next weeks episode. It was 2 out of the 3 by priority. I was personally watching one of the 7-9 shows live. We do have tuner sharing on, so we should have still had a free tuner. Even so, the scheduled recording should have stolen a tuner at 8, correct?

Log says it couldn’t start due to all tuners in use.

If you can email logs to [email protected] that would help. If the DVR is saying no tuners available, then they must have been in use somehow.

You’re right that Tuner Sharing should have left one free. Does the log show that tuners were being shared when you tuned in live?

Maybe you have some other DVR software still configured to record?

Seems like either one of the TVs doesn’t have Tuner Sharing on, or there’s some other software connecting to the tuner. You can check http://my.hdhomerun.com tuner status to see what IPs are connected.

I just tested. When I started watching one of the shows live that was recording it was using a second tuner, even though sharing was on. I just confirmed it. Should it be able to share the tuner with something being recorded? Also, should a scheduled recording boot off shows being watched live? That would be a nice option if not by default. In my case I would always want any recordings to take priority.

Edit: Also, I can watch the show that is being recorded live on as many other devices as desired. So tuner sharing is working on the live watching tuner. Is there a tuner sharing setting for the DVR software? I can’t seem to find a setting.

This is not something the DVR currently is able to do. I agree it would be nice to have.

Hmm, it should definitely be sharing if the option is on. What device/platform?

The server is running on a Windows 10 box. I was live watching on a Apple TV 4. I was also able to live watch on a pair of iPhones and they would share the live tuner with the AppleTV.

What version of Channels is the Apple TV running? One of the recent builds had an issue with tuner sharing that is not present in the newest build.
