Is there a specific reason Channels DVR doesn’t offer 1X, 2X, or 3X fast-forward like other streaming services? I switched to Channels DVR from a TiVo, which I owned from the original TiVo, to the TiVo Bolt. I sensed the end of TiVo when they started producing subpar Android streaming devices. However, TiVo did have one of the best interfaces and a robust commercial-skip feature. Don’t get me wrong, DVR channels are impressive, but I would love to fast forward faster through long movies and shows.
As a recent Channels convert and long-time TiVo user, I totally agree with this.
I've been working the kinks out of the new Channels setup for a couple weeks now and just made the switch last night, taking the wife through how to use it. She seems to be catching on quickly even though I'd call her "technologically challenged". But, she also doesn't like the lack of FF/RR like TiVo did.
What streaming device and remote are you guys using?
I have AppleTV, Netflix, Max, Disney/Hulu, Paramount, Peacock, PBS, and Prime. They all have the 3 to 4 x fast forward built in. I just checked out Plex, and their fast-forward is just like yours. I thought it might be a patent issue.
Have you tried holding the button down ... IIRC that put it into a mode for constant seeking versus 30s increments.
Thanks, Racameron, but neither feature is as good as going into 1x-4X mode or even holding down fast-forward and having it stay in fast-forward. Like I said before, I am very happy with Channels DVR, but this would be a nice feature to have for Movies and longer shows.
I agree with this but in the mean time the best way to scrub forward or back fast on the ATV is to make sure the touch pad is enabled, hit pause, then use the touch pad to scroll the play marker.
On my Firestick 4k Max, I can go from beginning to the end of a two hour movie in less that 6 sec. I wouldn't want to go any faster. I can see video updates the whole time. And I am doing this with a wireless connection.
Android TVs and Apple TVs don’t function the same for fast forwarding. This is one of the areas where android is better than Apple.
I am using an ONN 4K Pro and Nvidia Shield.
I would like the FF/RR behavior more akin to Tivo for the few shows that don't play well with ComSkip. I have to FF through commercials and with Tivo this was easy because you could pick your speed, then as soon as you see the show has returned, hit play and the Tivo would automatically back up a few seconds. I could pretty much nail the start of a show segment blindfolded (not really, but you get my drift).
