FastChannels 4.6.1
A bridge-and-cleanup release. The headliner is a BETA PrismCast DRM bridge for the channels that used to just get disabled — plus a pile of reliability fixes across VIDAA, Sling, category handling, and the admin UI.
PrismCast DRM Bridge (BETA)
Some channels are protected with DRM that FastChannels can't decrypt on its own (FairPlay on Roku, Widevine on Amazon/Sling). Up to now those channels either got disabled or just didn't play cleanly (outside of Chrome browser). This release adds an opt-in PrismCast bridge that captures the decrypted output and re-serves it through FastChannels instead.
- Supported today: Roku DRM channels (FairPlay), Amazon Prime Free (Widevine), and Sling (Widevine). That's it for now — nothing else routes through the bridge yet.
- Off by default. Turn it on in Settings; there's a setup tester that walks through an end-to-end check against your PrismCast install.
- A dedicated PrismCast feed (with a Gracenote variant) carries the bridged channels alongside everything else that plays direct.
- How to use: PrismCast needs to be installed on same server as FastChannels. You don't need to configure anything on PrismCast - stock should work fine. Use the PrismCast feed from admin/feeds. The feed can have both standard HLS and DRM-Bridge channels in same feed - the proxy serves the right endpoint to CDVR so seamless to end user.
Known issue: due to DRM restrictions, the quality of these streams isn't full HD. Nothing I can do about it- upstream restrictions.
Reliability fixes — VIDAA backend failover + real error on total EPG outage; Sling EPG window deepened; Pluto boot-signal sync; ~70 channels' missing categories fixed; a multi-gigabyte memory spike in the Channel Changes report fixed; dead-vs-transient playback errors now distinct; credential updates now actually clear cached logins; smarter Roku retry-vs-cooldown behavior.
Admin UI — multi-select category filters with counts, new Channel Number Map card on Feeds, pending-review nav badge, real cron schedule shown in Source Health.
