FastChannels - FAST Channels aggregator/manager

Well. Idk then. Just was reporting that, with out me changing anything on my end, there appeared to be guide data scrapping issue with Pluto, since it happened at least twice now with FastChannels.

With all concern about Pluto being a time bomb, just waiting for them to go full DRM or change things again to make it hard or not possible to work with Channels. Every-time i have a issue of any sort, makes me think...ok. this is it..goodbye Pluto.

@IDisposable Sorry - missing context.

StreamFAB to prerecord is the only thing that works reliably for me.

not sure i get what you are indicating here...this looks like an include...

@blkpanthr
So you're asking for an exclude :x: instead of an include :ballot_box_with_check:
Include everything not marked as excluded :x:

TBH, Pluto's stream is garbage and they do not seem to care.

Other than being 720p....its perfectly fine.
And, until their recent changes, been the most stable compared to the others i use.

Pluto is a free service and as fara as i'm concerned, it isn't costing a dime to the end user.
don't like the quality, pay for a premium service and thne go from there.

thanks

Re: filter checkboxes:
The way I use the filters is to include the categories I want to exclude - that is, get a view with all of the categories I don't want in my feeds, display them, and disable them all (or review and pick a few to keep, disabling the rest). So for my use, checking off what to include in the filter works. I could also use it to check if anything in the categories I do want is currently marked disabled, so again, having an inclusive filter makes sense to me. But if there's a way to let the user decide whether they want to include in or exclude from the filter...

Right...cause the same channels Pluto has is offered by "premium services".
Why you mean by pay for premium services?

Pay for CATV or SAT...pay $200+ a month for a even worse 720p stream, outages and locked down equipment. Right...i was doing that for 30yrs+. This free service is better quality, more reliable, and far more specific to what content i want to see and watch, than any paid "premium service".
Free can be taken away at any time...so can paid content you pay for on paid services.

Free Ad-supported Streaming Television...its right in the name.

And its never free, maybe you not pay currency for it...but, you pay in other ways, your data, watch habits, content aggregation choices...those companies find your data more profitable to them than if your actual cold hard cash.

The issues some are having with Pluto is an example of where my strategy of using provider based sources works well. As Pluto has been less reliable recently I've set them as my lowest priority source for Channels. The Pluto Gracenote channels first and then the scraped guide is my very last.

As far as there gide data goes, if there guide data is missing when I scan for things to record that source is not used. There are so many other good channels available between the 90 I get via my antena and the 2,500 from FastChannels it makes no difference. I have more recordings than I can watch. This is the type of problem I like to have.

I've noticed that when watching Pluto on my Pixel 10 Pro XL it gets all glitchy and corrupted after 15-20 minutes at the most. If you stop it and restart the channel it will restart at the same commercial and replay the same stuff you just watched every time.

If I clear cache on CDVR and force close CDVR and restart the channel it will work again until it gets corrupted and the process repeats. I watch the Price is Right Bob Barker days.

This happening with anyone else?

Take a look at your Advanced Settings on the phone client. My Pixel 6 uses hardware though I don't watch much with it. There are 3 settings, try the other 2 from what you are using.

With the HD HomeRun integration, how do I map a channel? I can’t get any guide data for WECX-HD. It is basically the same channel as WECXSD below it…

hey - the guide data on HDHomerun comes straight from their API. To get around that, since you said WECXSD is the same, you could just use the Gracenote ID from WECXSD and put it in the WECX-HD and change it to "M" for manual. Then, guide data will flow into CDVR (you still won't see any guide data on FastChannels).

that help?

Thanks that worked.

FastChannels 4.6.1

A bridge-and-cleanup release. The headliner is a BETA PrismCast DRM bridge for the channels that used to just get disabled — plus a pile of reliability fixes across VIDAA, Sling, category handling, and the admin UI.

:new: PrismCast DRM Bridge (BETA)

Some channels are protected with DRM that FastChannels can't decrypt on its own (FairPlay on Roku, Widevine on Amazon/Sling). Up to now those channels either got disabled or just didn't play cleanly (outside of Chrome browser). This release adds an opt-in PrismCast bridge that captures the decrypted output and re-serves it through FastChannels instead.

  • Supported today: Roku DRM channels (FairPlay), Amazon Prime Free (Widevine), and Sling (Widevine). That's it for now — nothing else routes through the bridge yet.
  • Off by default. Turn it on in Settings; there's a setup tester that walks through an end-to-end check against your PrismCast install.
  • A dedicated PrismCast feed (with a Gracenote variant) carries the bridged channels alongside everything else that plays direct.
  • How to use: PrismCast needs to be installed on same server as FastChannels. You don't need to configure anything on PrismCast - stock should work fine. Use the PrismCast feed from admin/feeds. The feed can have both standard HLS and DRM-Bridge channels in same feed - the proxy serves the right endpoint to CDVR so seamless to end user.

Known issue: due to DRM restrictions, the quality of these streams isn't full HD. Nothing I can do about it- upstream restrictions.

Reliability fixes — VIDAA backend failover + real error on total EPG outage; Sling EPG window deepened; Pluto boot-signal sync; ~70 channels' missing categories fixed; a multi-gigabyte memory spike in the Channel Changes report fixed; dead-vs-transient playback errors now distinct; credential updates now actually clear cached logins; smarter Roku retry-vs-cooldown behavior.

Admin UI — multi-select category filters with counts, new Channel Number Map card on Feeds, pending-review nav badge, real cron schedule shown in Source Health.

FYI - Vidaa is still acting a fool. It works then doesn't.. No rhyme or reason to it - I keep getting "500 Internal Server" errors. But then the next time I test scrapes, it works fine.

May want to shelf this scraper - or at least be aware it's flaky at best right now

Thanks for the updates!

Could you add back Next scheduled scrape in one of these 3 places

There's 3 places that show Previous scrape

  1. Dashboard > Sources
  2. Channel Changes Report > Source Health
  3. Sources

But you removed Next scheduled scrape in this update

You’re probably the only person that uses that report. Ima rename it the chDVRuser report :joy:

But sure I will

What does Guide pending mean here?
