Understood, thanks for looking into it.
Ok, I'll check the stick thoroughly. FYI, there is no stereo only output on this stick, only "Best Available", "PCM", "Passthrough Dolby Digital Plus", and "Passthrough Dolby Digital". So I selected PCM.
Just need to check...is the available Roku EPG data only about an hour or am I doing something wrong? Any chance of getting a bit more? Thanks.
i had to limit the number of api calls to stay under their Cloudfare limits. i can play with it some more.
but friends dont let friends rely on Roku as your main source.
I have to agree.
Roku loves to apply DRM to the different channels.
Actually, Roku has a lot of the channels that interest me. And their ads are primarily highlighting other channels (some I found interesting) instead of products/politics. I also sort of like the periodic weather updates.
If you could get to at least 3 hours or so it would be appreciated.
I'm using the HDMI/USB bridge which is working great for the DRM stuff.
This, along with your recent comments about Plex, have made me wish for a tool akin to the Duplicate Finder that would aid in switching away from a disfavored service. It would show your enabled channels on the disfavored service along with alternatives. A single click to choose an alternative would:
- Disable the channel for the disfavored service
- Enable the channel for the selected service.
- Retain the existing channel number(s).
@ KineticMan This piece of work is nothing short of spectacular! A Big Thank You for it!
I just installed it. My first meaningful success using Docker. And what a success it is. The most all encompassing comprehensive solution to Channels Sources there has and may ever be!
I haven't seen a "Support This Project", "Buy Me a Beer/Burger" link anywhere. Did I miss it. Because I feel it's a necessity that I offer you something in return for what you accomplished with this docker image et al.
Kudos!
I was actually thinking it might be wise to write a little bit of logic to pull the HE-AAC feed from DirecTV for certain decoders that maybe struggle with the AC3 feed. I experimented with this and it's a little hot; I found a way to lower the gain on it. I only use it with inserted ads that sound like crap with AC3. But I could theoretically, if you want me to write a patch that should do that, and you can test and let me know if it works. And, you know, if it does, it might be worth upstreaming.
I would be glad to test it!
Yeah, I'll see if I can just throw something together really quick and just see if it works. I'm going to fork it off from my main patch that I'm actually using myself, and if it works, hopefully it helps you.
Should have something ready for you to give a shot in like about 15 to 20 minutes, I think, if it all goes well. Just hang in there. It's just a little patch to swap the audio to the stereo feed. I wonder if maybe your HDMI capture card is struggling with AC3.
Yeah, I've looking for a powershell command to list what audio formats this card supports. No luck so far. I appreciate the help!
This is strictly a test. Please keep that in mind. Please know that the audio is going to be very loud compared to what you're used to, so you're going to have to turn your speakers down. Or if you have a gain setting anywhere, use that to drop the sound a little bit.
ghcr.io/mackid1993/fastchannels-heaac:latest
Swap over to this image. It should just be a drop-in it may not work right away because Fast Channels caches the URLs for quite a while. So I'm going to give you a command you can run to clear that.
Run this against your Docker container before you tune a channel. That should clear any caches that will serve up the old AC3 links: docker exec fastchannels python3 -c "import sqlite3; db=sqlite3.connect('/data/fastchannels.db'); db.execute(\"DELETE FROM source_cache WHERE cache_key='directv_playback'\"); db.commit(); print('DirecTV stream cache cleared')"
Just where it says docker exec fastchannels, make sure that is the name of your Docker case sensitive verbatim, or it won't do anything.
Just a heads-up, since we both use the same Capture Card. I streamed college football all day today, using CDVR MultiView (4x) on AppleTV. Two of my virtual tuners were encoder-based, and two were using Capture Cards. After about 6 or 7 hours, both of the Capture Cards were a bit off-speed. I.E., the sports action wasn't crisp and looking like live action compared to the two encoder sources.
If it hadn't happened identically to both, I probably would write-it-off. But they both did exactly the same thing. Personally, I'm going to take them out of production use, and rotate in some other encoder-based tuners. Maybe it's nothing, but I love my 4x Multiview, so the Capture Cards are moving to the test system -- at least for now.
I'm curious what that test build I wrote does, though, if it improves things.
I wonder, you know, drift can be caused by out-of-time audio. And if these capture cards, especially the macro silicon ones, are having trouble with Dolby audio and just the bitrate or whatever, what I wrote might just help.
When running the clear cache command I get the following error. A missing quotation mark maybe?
SyntaxError: unterminated string literal (detected at line 1)
That is definitely weird. Honestly, maybe try it without clearing the cache and seeing if it is really loud and works! What I would do is just try a channel you haven't played all day. The cache burns after 55 minutes, so honestly, it's really no harm to just ignore that command and just try a channel you haven't watched in a while.
Definitely louder! Unfortunately, pretty much the same problem. Although this time, the audio started fine, but as soon as a scene changed in the movie, the audio dropped out to silence for about 10 seconds, then click sound, then good audio again.
Okay, that's super weird. Are you plugged into a Windows PC?
If so, how many USB devices do you have plugged in? Because I'm wondering if the bus itself is just overloaded.
