FCC is Seeking Comments on the Proposed ATSC 3.0 Deadlines

.
Excerpt:
In the document seeking comments, the FCC notes that it received thousands of complaints from consumers about Digital Rights Management encryption on ATSC 3.0 signals which could block consumers from watching programming. The FCC asks “What steps can or should the industry and/or the Commission take to ensure broadcasters are able to protect their content and signal, while also ensuring viewers are able to continue to view a station’s free over-the-air signal in ATSC 3.0 just as they do today?”

No offense, but the current FCC has no consideration for anything relating to us, the consumer. Any action at present to counter the current movement forward of any pro-business takeover of the public airwaves (such as the necessity of licensing AC-4) is negligent, because we're not the ones paying.

If you want to fight Carr's bought-and-paid-for FCC, good on you ... but until the king is toppled, you're dead on arrival.

Yeah, it's amazing how the DRM happened since January, and all of the kowtowing and catering to the broadcasters.

:heavy_dollar_sign: still speaks

I don’t follow. All my channels were drm’d prior to Carr under the leadership of Jessica Rosenworce at the fcc. It’s clear that the fcc bureaucracy doesn’t care about protecting the citizen owned airwaves from big media regardless of the party in power.

All please read the new post:
ATTN: All CDVR Users. DRM. LonTV. FCC form instructions

It won’t matter what we say with this administration, they’re gonna go with the money. This shit started 9 years ago with data caps on our internet, then the streaming wars, then everyone started pulling their channels, then they had to create a separate special streaming service so you could access their content and new content, and every other dumbass thing that’s happened since then… I’m tired boss.

I hear where you're coming from. On the good news side of things, even with this disjointed backdrop, CDVR has pretty much kept pace. Especially, if you're using a few of the community driven extensions available. This is one of few (only?) platforms where you can bring all of this craziness into one place, and enjoy a touch of entertainment serenity.
