Not sure where to post please move accordingly.

Would it be possible to add this feature,
Ability to choose a channel from the web based client ? So it plays or switches to that channel on that device?

Think of this as a senior friendly request for those helping parents

  • dad turn on tv
  • select channels app
    Then I could change the channel remotely for him (Incase it’s too hard to read guide , manipulate a remote control)….

While I have done a work around using Siri Shortcuts (on a schedule opens channels app then selects a channel @ a specific time)

Perhaps in the web based interface an option for that? Like where you chose kiosk mode or see what channel is currently playing?
It would be great to say 9am choose a specific station for him.

None of this can happen anyways since the app has to be launched to receive any API commands (which is how the Siri Shortcuts work).

What Siri Shortcuts do, that we can't do, is launch the app first, and then run the commands.So there's not much we can do on the server that would be reliable.

Another option is Home Assistant. It has an Apple TV component in it that can launch apps. You could use it to build an automation like you are looking for.
