Feature request | Guide-driven recording | French translation

Hi,

First, let me tell you that your app is really nice. I am using it since a couple month (not the DVR) and recently registered to the DVR beta since I am planning to set it up at my parents house but I have a couple request that might be well welcomed by others.

  1. Being able to select a show in the future directly in the guide section and program a recording, basically, you let’s say it is 17h00 and there is a show starting at 20h, you go on it in the guide, click the remote and the same screen you found in the “Recording” section will popup to schedule a recording for that show. This is how it use to work with Videotron boxes or Bell boxes which make it easy to transition.

  2. Have a french translation (and maybe other language) of the menus so people who don’t speak english will be able to navigate and records things. If you guys need help, I can do the translation if you provide me a file with all the text used in your app.

  3. Do you guys plan to release an Android version of Channels in the future ?

Aside from that, it is superb ! Thanks for this awesome App.

This is how the app is supposed to work. If you just installed the DVR then maybe you need to restart the app to make this work.

Oh nice then. I didn’t restart the App, I saw that I had access to a DVR and Search Menu on top so I thought this was the feature. When trying to select a show in the futur and clicking on the remote, it did nothing…I try tonight when I’ll be home.

What about a french translation ?

I guess that for the Android App, this will come when the IOS and TvOS app will be completely done ?

We have no experience writing Android apps, and are a very small team who is already very busy, so I’m not sure if/when we will ever have other apps.

Translation is also a big project and requires constant updates whenever we change the UI, so it’s not something we’re ready to tackle at this time.

Although a native Android is not currently planned; with the new addition of Chromecast ability from the web ui, Android users can now take advantage of DVR functions, including playback.

For example, recordings/passes can be set up via a web browser on Android. Also playback can be initiated and “cast” to other compatible devices, like Chromecast, Nexus Player, Nvidia Shield TV, etc. for full display on connected tv/monitor.

The playback controls are resident on the initiating device and include play, pause/resume, scrubbing, skip fwd (30s), skip back (10s) and the newly added Chapter Picker with one button > (<) to easily skip commercials.
