Feature Request: Siri Search

We utilize Siri (in Channels) on search tab (ATV) for shows rather than typing requests (great for new season line-ups).

As we are quickly approaching 500 movies in our Channels movie recordings, it would be great if we could use Siri to search recordings rather than scrolling down, down, down. Scroll is fast, but voice search would be phenomenal.

Note: Also requested voice search for Android implementations in another thread, as currently trying to use an Android device for to find movies for playback is totally unuseable…for us (sort order is currently based on recording date).

Love the fact that Channels for ATV/iOS/Web has both recorded and alpha sort.

On the list of movies or shows on ATV, you can use Siri to name a movie/show to jump to it.

Siri Search may be a misnomer? Maybe it’s just called voice search.

Using voice search on the Search tab results in matching Channels shows or movies (listed in the guide). In order to use this voice search we have to be positioned on the alphabet line and then see “Hold (Mic) to dictate search” in the upper field. Then you can speak the whole title or dictate a letter at a time.

If in list of recorded Channels movies on ATV, then voice search ONLY seems to result in a match to iTunes (and it’s various purchase options). Cannot find options for Channels recordings, in order to jump.

Siri search as implemented in the app only searches guide data. Adding search for recorded content is possible but non-trivial.

In addition to Siri search, tvOS has a hidden feature that allows voice navigation. In order to use it, you need to say only the name of the item while focused on a list which contains it. For example on the movies list, click Siri button and say “The Matrix”

Got it to work, however the intended target has to be displayed on the screen, otherwise it defaults to Siri search on iTunes.

If this voice search can be fixed to include ALL in the list…great.

Otherwise, scrolling will suffice
