It would be great if there was a way to make the page that comes up when you pick a TV Show from 'Up Next' be the same as when you pick that show from 'TV Shows' instead of just being the 'next' episode. That would make it possible to pick a different episode or manage your pass directly from 'Up Next' without having to navigate into the 'TV Shows' library.
The whole point of Up Next is to present you with a quick way to jump to the next episode to watch. What you're seeing listed in Up Next are episodes, not shows.
To get to the actual Show page of one of those episodes is pretty easy too. From the episode modal, click the Explore Show button. Or, long hold on the episode in Up Next to get the context menu and choose Explore Show.
'Up Next' being episode centric makes sense but as a user, in my opinion, wasn't intuitive and was frustrating.
The UIs are nearly identical between the 2 paths. Both have identical functionality for quickly resuming current or playing the next episode. The 'TV Shows' version just adds the additional buttons to manage a pass and navigate to other episodes.
If you used the 'Tv Shows' view for the 'Up Next' menu you would have the identical functionality that 'Up Next' gives you with the added ability to do the other things you can do from 'TV Shows' without having to know to long press on the episode.... which honestly never would of occurred to me and I'm unlikely to remember.
If that's a bridge to far perhaps a button to 'Explore Show' on the 'Up Next' interface instead of being in the long press menu?
You should def explore this menu as TV user interfaces can only offer so much and a lot of great features and affordances are offered in these menus that you might find helpful.
There is, as I mentioned.
There is no "Up Next interface". When you select an episode from the Up Next row, a row of episodes, it presents a modal for that episode. This is the same modal that is presented throughout Channels when selecting an episode.
In that modal, when selecting from Up Next is an "Explore Show" button.

In any case, compare that Episode view to the view you are presented when you open the Series. They are nearly, but not quite identical. I get it, one is an 'episode' and one is the 'series'. You know your users better then I do but for me that's a useless distinction.
