On TiVo, the Recommendation page had a "What To Watch" category that would look at guide data and recommend content to watch and record. Both currently on, and in the future.
Example: Movie A is on at X time on channel Y, Z days from now. So you could browse and setup recordings without having to scroll through the guide horizontally to see if anything interesting is coming up in the future.
It would also categorize listings into Movies, Sports, Kids, etc. With collections that would bundle recordings (harder to do - but an example would be a "Harry Potter Collection". Setting that collection to record would just wait in the background until it saw it on tv and was available to record... it was bulk recordings.
I'm new, but I'm not seeing anything similar. Only things on live at the time of viewing - which means a lot of "I missed the beginning of it" moments.
