Feature Timeline for Android

So I was in the server web interface and started playing with personal section, sidebar navigation, etc.

It was really cool. :grinning:

But I could not figure out why none of the changes were showing up on my clients. That is when I went to the release page and found that Apple clients are on version 7, while Android clients are still on version 4.

I know that Android will always lag behind, but three major versions is a bit extreme.

Can we please have a timeline on when we will start seeing some of the cool stuff on Android? @maddox

I'm just hoping I get some sort of response on the crash bug I reported.
I simply can't reconcile Apple, so it's just not going to happen for me. And I live with the bug, but it would be nice to get some updates for Android.

Surprised to see no response to this thread from the developers. Seems to me there will be a LOT of Android client users diligently paying our Channels subscription every month for a client that is stagnating.

Not asking for everything right now, but at least a view on what's in the pipeline would provide some reassurance that you're not abandoning Android clients, and that in turn we don't need to start looking at other options. Thank you.

Well they mostly fixed the guide in the latest beta so that's something, but yeah it's troubling that Android has lagged so badly.

Seems like people who don't have an AppleTV client should be charged a dollar or two less per month...

Not sure it is going to matter in the long term. With TVE channels falling off, the overall value (Apple TV or Android TV) won't support any price. They have done a great job ignoring us for 3+ years and at this point, whatever.

I don't agree. With new projects like prismcast that enable you to reliably stream almost any channel (as long as you can authenticate) it doesn't really matter if TVE goes away at this point.

Not to mention the HDMI encoders and projects like ADBtuner that have been around for a couple years now that let you run native apps and capture the streams that way.

Lots of workarounds for the death of TVE.
