Finding And Eliminating Multiple (Identical) Scheduled Recordings

Was thinking of making a Feature Request, then thought maybe first I’d best ask if I was missing something obvious.

Suddenly, and perhaps only temporarily, a couple transmitters ±65 miles away showed up. They’re not very solid, but, if they hang around they may come in handy when the local stations preempt network programming for some-or-another local thing of interest in which we’re not interested. So I got their guide data going. This resulted in them being scheduled to record stuff.

I manually went through the schedule for the next couple weeks and added a “Channel ==” rule to the passes for those duplicates, but I’m not sure I got them all and it was kind of a PITA.

So I’m wondering if there’s a better way to find and eliminate duplicate scheduled recordings?

Generally the DVR won’t ever record the same episode twice. It shouldn’t even show up on the schedule if it’s already scheduled once…

Can you provide some examples of the duplicates you were seeing?

I phrased that poorly.

What I should have written was the same program showing up on multiple channels. So what you can end up with is the scheduler picking the wrong channel.

I know how to deal with that when creating a new pass, but this is a case where I had an existing pass, added some new channels, and the scheduler went through and changed the channel from the local, solid one to the distant, unreliable one.

So I had to go through the schedule to look for recordings scheduled on the non-optimal channels, then go back to the passes to put in the proper rule.

But I think, in poking-around to aid explaining myself better, I found the solution: From Passes, select “Find Airings” from the drop-down menu for each Pass, then “Manage Season Pass” from there

Non-critical enhancement request. So non-critical I hesitate even to suggest it. But maybe, in the “Find Airings” display(s), highlight any channels set to record a given episode. Maybe by one or more of bolding them, displaying them in red, underlining, slightly bigger font, etc?

Ah okay, so some of your scheduled jobs got updated with extra channel numbers.

When the DVR goes to record something, it considers all the listed channels in the following order: Favorite, HD, rest

So if a program is airing on both a Fav and non-fav channel, the favorited channel will always be preferred for making the recording. Similarly if its airing in both HD and SD at the same time, the HD channel will be preferred.

Whats the format to add a channel to current series pass. I would like to record Cops on another channel as well but would like to know how to add it to a current series pass without creating an new series pass

Right now you can only add one channel number. I plan to add multiple via comma at some point
