FiOS IPTV and Channels

Anyone here using Channels with the new FiOS TV boxes? Apparently they'll be the only option when Verizon retires their current cablecard-based STBs. They apparently are IPTV, no cablecard. This demises my HDHR Primes. There is little to no info about the new boxes on the web that I can find. I want to plan for the conversion. I live off 3 cable cards now, 2 in the Primes and 1 in a TiVo Bolt.
Is there any way to make custom channels (or some such) work with the boxes? I can put the antennae back up and re-establish the OTA HDHRs but there are channels I'd like to get that are on cable only.
I also will check out YouTube TV, which would obviate the utility of most of Channels - or is there some friendly interface between the two?

Until youbrecievecthe new cablebox it is only speculation. However you will likely need a combination of solutions

  1. OTA-HDHR you already mentioned for your local stations
  2. Possible you can use a HDMI or Chrome capture there are a few post on these topics. If this works it would give you access to ALL your stations.
  3. TVE login with your Cable. It will give you a lot of channels. BUT, many stations no longer offer TVE
  4. Fubo for Docker project. You would drop cable and use FUBO docker. It will give you all the channels.
  5. Online TV providers such as YTTV, Philo, Etc. You would then use a combination of TVE and Chrome capture to get all your stations

I wish younluck with the new cableboxes.

I'm also a FIOS user and your question lead me to do some research. This reddit thread seems to describe the current state and what answer what the new boxes do:

I think for now we are fine. The cost of swapping out all that legacy equipment will e rather high vs the small gain in bandwidth they can gain by getting the TV channels back.

I just found more. The experience may vary by market.

And this post from last month:

I have not renewed my FIOS contract for 10 years, yet pay my bills and they take the money and the service continues with features that are no longer available. When I ordered my second cable card a few years ago, I told them I want the card at the same monthly cost with all the same services attached to it. They did it. The last thing that Cable TV want's is to lose another customer.
