Fixing Incorrect Matches on Imported TV Shows

I've looked through the other posts related to this, but I haven't seen anything quite like this.

In my imported TV shows I have both Would I Lie to You and Qi. Would I Lie to You imported mostly correctly (I had to use The Movie Database for episode descriptions as Gracenote had the same description for every episode). The issue is with my imported Qi episodes. After fixing the seasons that were imported as MMA or bareknuckle boxing (for some reason) a boatload of episodes are being lumped into Would I Lie to You. So, season 1 episode 1 of Qi has the same description as the corresponding episode of Would I Lie to You. Episodes where there isn't a corresponding Would I Lie to You episode have a blank description.

The file structure for both shows is the same:

TV Shows -> Show Name -> Season XX -> Show Name SXXEXX - Episode Title.mkv

Even though I can change the episode descriptions manually (e.g. correct Qi S01E01's description and title), they remain under Would I Lie to You, just with the new titles/descriptions). I can't get them under Qi. Batch editing does not appear to be a solution as there is no option to "fix incorrect match" for the selected episodes (nor is there one for individual episodes).

It's driving me to distraction. Is there anything that I'm not seeing (or screwing up) so that I can fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Just a suggestion with no guarantee that this will fix your problem: try adding the year after the show name in the folder name.

TV Shows > Would I Lie to You (2007)
TV Shows > QI (2003)

Might help. :crossed_fingers:

Now that I think of it more, your problem seems to be that the files themselves get associated with the wrong shows.
Not sure.

I just tried that, and no luck. All it did was add the MMA/bareknuckle boxing mismatches back. The Qi episodes showing up under Would I Lie to You are still there, even after pruning missing recordings.

So, I removed the QI folder on my NAS (moved it to another folder) and pruned everything. Would I Lie to You is now correct. I then restored QI (moved it back) to the TV Shows directory. Channels will not import the show/episodes. It's been a couple of hours now. Scan frequency is set at 5 minutes...nothing. I tried manually scanning...still nothing.

What can I do to get it added back?

If you can get QI to import again (check the DVR log). They may have been mismatched to a different show title or might be in DVR > Manage > Unmatched > Shows.

Do a fix match at the Show level using the Gracenote show ID SH006065480000 (use that as the Show Title to match).
Then you can match using TMDB, which will match the episodes with TMDB Episode metadata.

Gracenote
https://tvlistings.zap2it.com/overview.html?programSeriesId=SH00606548&tmsId=SH006065480000
isn't up to date on all the episodes and uses Season and Episode numbers. But the show must first be matched to Gracenote.

TMDB
https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1554-qi
is up to date and uses Series A (2003) - V (2024) for Seasons. You can match the episodes with TMDB, but not the show.

Worked for me

I batch renamed all of the QI files to QI (2003), and they're all under the QI (2003) folder. That just made things worse. The overwhelming majority of the files are showing up under Would I Lie to You. The files that had shown up under QI, well most of those are completely missing (e.g. QI XL episodes which are under neither QI nor Would I Lie to You). Series 1 (normal QI), which had been under Would I Lie to You, is nowhere to be found. The same goes to Series 6+ (QI XL). Series 2 - 5 are under Would I Lie to You. An example of the naming convention I'm using is: QI (2003) - s02e01 - Blue.mkv.

I'm at a loss.

I don't know. That's why I don't import to Channels DVR. Too much work to get it right.

You can check the DVR log to see what it imported.
Then to see where they went (Title and episode Title) you have to look at the API & Feed Explorer.
Select Episodes, All Shows, Imports
The Imports will be listed as "path":, Title as "title":, episode title as "episode_title":
Then when you find the ones it mismatched, you have to somehow fix them.

Unless someone has another idea, you might want to submit diagnostics from your DVR server.

I would prefer that Channels DVR puts the ones it's not 100% sure of into Unmatched instead of doing a Best (Wrong) Guess, Mismatching it, and making you guess where it is and having to search for it. Just my opinion. When it can do that, I'll have a stab at importing mine again.

Yeah, I've given up for the time being. At least until the ability to fix incorrect matches at the episode level is improved. It's unfortunate that you can't correct the show to which an episode belongs when there is a mismatch. Fortunately, my Plex server was able to identity everything correctly. So, I guess I'll be watching the shows there. Thanks for the help.

Can you give a list of some of the full paths that aren't matching correctly? We can add some tests to try to see what's matching incorrectly.

Is this what you need?

/Public/TV Shows/Would I Lie To You (2007)/
/Public/TV Shows/QI (2003)/

The seasons are Season 01, Season 02 and so on. The episode titles are, for example:

/Public/TV Shows/Would I Lie To You (2007)/Season 01/Would I Lie To You - s01e01 - Duncan Bannatyne, Frankie Boyle, Natalie Cassidy, Dom Joly.mkv

or

/Public/TV Shows/QI (2003)/Season 01/QI - s01e01 - Adam.mkv

The Would I Lie to You episode are being picked up correctly. It's just the QI episodes that are a problem (i.e. most being lumped in with Would I Lie to You).

Yep, those examples were what I was looking for.
