when selecting storage path I get no write permissions to dvr directory or mkr /media/DVR permission denied......you guys make this extremely hard for people i swear
Hi, we are tracking a bug that causes this.
Please try this image: https://channels-distro.s3.amazonaws.com/2023.0104.2027/ChannelsDVRServer_PI4.img.xz
It’s my parents house so once I go back I’ll retry thanks
@racameron whered your post go or did you get upset and decide not to help? thank you @tmm1 for quick reply and info until i can get back there
No, I think it was deleted and superseded by those with more information.
(However, my original tenets still stand: if you want help, please accurately describe your problems and situation, otherwise everyone is only guessing.)
I have this same issue tonight installing on a Pi3. Is there an update to that DVR download as well? Version is 2023.01.06.1553
For the record, I had to do a chmod on the dir that was created. When the script does the install, what permissions does it set for the storage dir selected?
It does not set permissions on your selected storage dir. That's up to you.
This thread is actually about the PI4 managed disk image which is a different issue.
Is there a way to edit the permissions? At my parents and all they have is a stinking Chromebook so not sure I can write new image u provided
This image will not load via usb
What does that mean? What did you try, and what happened when you tried it?
This permission denied error happens when the drive didn't get partitioned correctly. That happens on first boot, and sometimes the first boot messes up. So the fix is to re-image so it can try that part again. The new image is supposed to have a fix so it doesn't happen any more.
I rebooted a few times it didn’t work so tried to reimagine using link u sent me and the pi wouldn’t boot off that
Hm okay. Then just try re-image with the stable version:

What kind of drive is it?
WD elements 10 tb had 3.1 usb with separate power cord
