Having a bit of bother with Fox Sports Carolinas. On the iOS app everything looks fantastic. On Channels DVR the frame rate is pretty rough. As it’s a Fox broadcast I’d expect it to be 720p but it actually looks less than 30fps.
Unfortunately I don’t have all the necessary stuff set up at home to MiTM the SSL and capture the URL the iOS app is using.
Are you talking about TVE or your cable stream?
When watching with Channels and thus the TVE stream.
What client are you using? On Apple clients you can turn on diagnostic information that overlays on the screen that will help diagnose.
Ive heard people with similar complaints for different networks here in the forums. Looks great on the app and terrible in channels. I think it comes down to channels using the feed from the website. It seems some networks are content to leave their desktop site feed looking like trash but invest in having their app look crystal clear. I don't think there is a good solution to this problem to make it look better in channels. The downside of building our DVRs off of network feeds that have been an afterthought for years now.
Channels can also use the cable feed directly with a Hdhomerun prime
AT&T TV here. No cable.
Well the way to do it is to change the user agent header to mimic an iOS device. That way you get the iOS stream URL. However that may blow up something else. I don’t know enough about the backend.
FSN Carolinas is also one of those deals where each program has its own URL, just to make things more difficult.
