Fox TVE 4K Stream

Is there any way to get the 4K stream of fox sports broadcast through Channels? I do not believe the Fox App directly supports the Shield Pro for the 4K stream so being able to send it to the Shield through channels would be highly beneficial.

I thought I saw somewhere in the settings that 4K was now being supported or at least in beta.

Thank you

Does fox provide a 4K stream on their website? If so, Channels may be able to use it.

Not seeing web browsers being supported.

I guess that answers the question it is not available through the web but through FOX Sports and FOX NOW apps. So no go I guess.

Unless they have made a change, that is more marketing gimmickry than reality. They record in HD, then upscale to 4K. If you have a 4K TV that already upscales (as I think most do), there is zero gain in picture quality. Watching the Super Bowl, this year, I tried three ways to watch...direct from antenna, antenna via Channels (on FireTV Stick 4K), and 4K via Fox Sports App (on Roku 4K TV). When it worked, the 4K from the app did not look any better or appear any more HDR than the antenna feed.

Old thread, but it does seem the World Cup is both shot in and transmitted in 4k HDR on the Fox app. The Thanksgiving Cowboys/Giants game was also presented in 4k, but seems to just be upscaled.

The World Cup 4K broadcasts on FIOS have looked real bad. Almost like they’re supposed to be hdr, but not coded as such so HDR doesn’t kick in. They’re dim and muddy. The nfl broadcasts have been coded as hdr and look great.

I’ll try the fox app next time.
