Frame rate

Running Channels latest release version with a HDHR Connect 4K with an outdoor antenna. All signals are still ATSC 1.0 in my area. AppleTV is set to match rate and match range. I have an LG OLED C8.

If I use the standard Video Driver and Deinterlacer the picture is very soft, almost blurry. Clearly not right.

When I switch on the Experimental Driver and Deinterlacer the picture gets crystal sharp, but the frame rate looks wrong from time to time. I can tune a channel and it looks right, but suddenly the frame rate will look like it dropped to 24fps and motion takes on a judder. If I change channels and then go back it usually clears up, but at some point it will happen again.

Anyone else see this?

Thx.

What about regular video driver and experimental deinterlacer

That works better but the picture is not as sharp. I tried each combination of standard and experimental and only running both gives me a sharp picture.

Went and tried all the combinations and using anything but experimental seems to send 30fps and very soft video. OLED's really don't like 30fps so motion gets affected. Experimental on both the driver and the deinterlace gives the best picture, very sharp and no interlace artifacts, but will develop the judder look that that I can only describe as looking like a 50hz British show that has been unconverted to 60hz and motion in the video looks less than smooth. Lower 3rd text crawls on the news are the best indicator, and instead of moving smoothly across the screen they judder across.

I do not have Cinema Mode or Motion Control turned on in the LG. I tried them to see if that changed anything but that only introduced the soap opera effect.
