I had this issue for quite some time where the browser playback feature would just not work no matter what I did.
I originally had my database files saved on my NAS, but ran the server from another PC. For some reason, it just would not play more than a few seconds then would just stop. After I copied my database files to the PC I was running the server on and restored the backup, I have not had any issues. I'm guessing it was some sort of permissions issue with not being able to write to the transcoding directory (or something of that nature), even though my folders were set to 777 permissions.
Long story short, install your server and database locally on one device if you are experiencing issues with the web player not being able to play more than a few seconds before stopping.
