Thanks, I guess just have to watch within channels without the subtitles, I do get it with OTA just not as clean as FrndlyTV…
Why would the CCs disappear after years of being there? It is multiple Frndly TV stations where they just disappeared.
If they're delivered via Closed Captions imbedded in the video stream, Channels DVR will display them. If they're delivered via a WebVTT subtitle stream, Channels DVR does not support that and drops that stream (doesn't display WEBVTT subtitles).
To answer your question. Perhaps some were previously Closed Captions and are now WEBVTT subtitles?
If they're recordings you have it's easy enough to tell if they have closed captions. If they were aired with WEBVTT subtitles when recorded, Channels DVR would not have saved the WEBVTT subtitles stream in the recording (it drops the stream like it didn't exist).
also mpv doesn't support webvtt so probably no support is incoming
Hey - I am so excited to see WEST was added to the FRNDLY lineup on the app…what do we have to do to get it into Channels DVR with the python? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
I actually show that WEST and the three different DOVE channels need to be added..but not sure how that happens.
You can manually map them using "Search all lineups".
Are you talking about manually adding the guide to the channel? That I know how to do, if that is what you are referring to. I am trying to pull the channel itself in. Right now it says I have 56 total FRNDLY channels. But there are actually 60 and one of them includes WEST.
I'm not seeing the channel in the docker.
Gracenot ID: 193653
Plays very nicely on the FRNDLY app.
If you're using the "two source" method, the three "Dove" channels are in the "No EPG" source.
It looks like "WEST" is a new channel addition to Frndly as of today.
I am using Python. Does that make a difference?
That's a good question. I am using the docker container for Frndly. From what I see on @matthuisman 's Frndly TV page, it looks like the python version may offer the same two sources. One uses Gracenote data for EPG, and one does not.
My Channels sources are as follows: (use your own server IP address and Frndly port)
Channels Source 1
Stream Format: HLS
Refresh: Daily
Source URL: http://192.168.1.100:8183/playlist.m3u8?gracenote=include
XMLTV Data URL: (Leave Blank)
Channels Source 2
Stream Format: HLS
Refresh: Daily
Source URL: http://192.168.1.100:8183/playlist.m3u8?gracenote=exclude
XMLTV Data URL: http://192.168.1.100:8183/epg.xml?gracenote=exclude
Hey buddy, would this apply to both docker and python?
I'm fairly certain that both the docker and python methods follow the same format for configuring Channels sources. Try browsing to your server's ip address using the port 8183. You should come to a page like this. It identifies the info to be entered for your DVR custom channel sources.
Two source method works with python.
new channels should automatically show up regardless of attached gracenote.
It seems that new channel isn't yet showing with the API methods we are using...
Will need to investigate hopefully tonight
Okay. Thank you thank you thank you!
found the issue.
Now fixed in latest python code & latest docker image
Update and should have the West channel
If I am using Python, what steps do I need to take? I thought I usually just refresh the m3u in sources….but that didn’t do it. I soooo appreciate your help.
