Full screen option maintaining aspect ratio?

On my android pixel 8 pro device if I go landscape the top and bottom 5%-10% are cropped off. If I turn on the stretch video to fit option the whole image can be seen but it loses proper aspect ratio.

Is there a way to set fit to screen but maintain aspect ratio so that I'd have bars on the side instead of cropped top and bottom?

Looks like it's only if you start portrait and then switch to landscape. I just verified that starting landscape it works fine.

Any chance of getting this fixed? I usually have auto rotate turned off so it's annoying to switch that every time I want to watch tv.
