I started signing up. Downloaded and started the install of the package on Synology. Failed install saying "failed to connect to getchannels.com on port 443" Any getchannels DVR server on any platform MUST have fulltime internet access?
Yes and no. It uses getchannels to verify your subscription to set up. Guide data also needs internet to update, if you lose internet it will still work but a prolonged time without internet will cause the guide data to run out. A dvr without guide data would be pointless because it wouldn’t know what is playing on any channel.
