We have a couple of old ATV4s which are used in the kids bedrooms for channels, connected to monitors. Channels works great, except for 4K source. When playing any 4K file (movie for instance) I immediately get unwatchable glitchy playback and dropped frames. I've tried playing around with match content settings, legacy codec etc... but to no avail.
Anyone know a fix?
Do you mean, Apple TV HD models?
They can’t play 4K.

If you have quality set to Original Quality, then it will not downscale. It will come across in its original form.
thanks - that makes sense. Is there scope to consider a 'downscale 4k only' option to keep older clients functional as more 4k content becomes available?
