Google TV - Blank Screen

Hi,

Just upgraded TVs to a Sony Bravia with Google TV (Android OS 12, Kernel 5.4.283) installed Channels for HDHomeRun version 4.8.0.

After about 5 minutes, the video drops to a black screen, the audio continues to play. Changing to another channel or reselecting the channel from the guide addresses the issue for another 5 minutes...

The HDHomeRun is model HDHR5-2DT, Firmware 20231214.

I don't have the issue with the Silicon Dust HDHomeRun app on the same Google TV.

Any tips or workarounds?

Is this in the UK with BBC or something else?

No, this is in Australia, with free to air digital services like Nine HD and Ten HD.

Similar or same problem occurs in other non-USA countries. Unfortunately, doesn't seem like a solution is available.

Thanks Michael, this seems to be an ongoing issue, hopefully the Channels developers can sort this out eventually. Anyway, I found an alternate app that works well with the HDHomeRun on Google TV.

Hi Damon,

It's called Sparkle TV. Very configurable and has built in DVR and Timeshift which can be setup to work with local, network or usb storage. It works well with HDHomeRun, plus you can also add other sources.
