Have the devs considered a subscription level for guide data only? Very rarely do I record any more. However, I would like access to more than 3 hours of the guide. Perhaps, this could be a lifetime subscription option?
Unfortunately that isn't something that we are going to be able to provide. There's a lot of different technical and business reasons why we can't do it. To list a few: all TVE and Locast streams require the DVR to operate, the extended guide data is stored and indexed on the DVR for performance, we pay a monthly fee for the guide data. Because "lifetime" is a very long time, we can't pick a number to charge that we know will be more than what we have to pay over that lifetime in monthly guide fees (ignoring all of our other costs and expenses).
