Guide filtering Client apps vs Web

From the Web Guide (grid) I find it convenient that there are two filter drop-downs - one for Channel Collections, and another to filter by Source. I have a number of sources, and would love this same behavior be made easily available from the client app - in my case mostly Android. Can this be enabled easily already? One approach, maybe a painful one, would be o build Channel Collections named and filtered to contain all the channels in a particular source.

I've done this for a few sources. It isn't painful, and updates automatically. The feature is called "Automatic Channels." You set it up by choosing sources to exclude in the Channel Collection. Select all sources, except for the one you want to display. Then, for "Enter Keywords," you simply input a single space, and then, press the enter key. That'll pull in all the guide data entries, for all channels, in the one specific source you're targeting.

I agree it would be more efficient and intuitive user interface, and a better use of screen real estate, if we could have a source menu directly in the guide, for on-the-fly filtering. But until we see something like that, this use of Automatic Channels has worked out well for many of us here. Hope this helps!

Great work around as I had only ever made Collections via manual selections - thanks!

@Fofer Thank you so much for this!! Awhile back I requested a select all in the automatic collections for traveling in my rv and automatically add my hdhr after a scan. This solution is brilliant!!

Glad you're enjoying! I remember how excited I was when @fashioncents first mentioned that slick tip, too.

You've just got to be mindful, that whenever you add any new sources later on, to add them to the "exclude" lists of any of the "Automatic Channel Collections" you've previously created. Aside from that, there's no ongoing maintenance or updating to think about. It just works!
