When scrolling through the guide using the remote's touchpad, it seems to get stuck sometimes.

I have been experiencing this issue since I began using Channels DVR about two years ago.
It used to be buttery smoothe many many versions ago. 
The Apple TV guide is an exercise in spaz scrolling, doesn't matter which direction you go. Gets stuck, skips around wildly, it's almost unusable. Not to mention that you can't easily skip forward and back a day because they refuse to put in the buttons to allow that for some unknown reason, unlike every other DVR in existence.
The real problem is that they would suggest you search, but search is also broken because it often won't return all the results that it should.
Same for clicking on a channel to see what's upcoming, and then going deeper into events. Stuff is always missing. Don't even get me started on why when you click on a pass you can't see what's upcoming, this is just a basic feature that doesn't exist with channels. You shouldn't have to go into the web UI to do this.
The guide is the worst part of channels, it doesn't matter which platform it is. Has always seemed to be an afterthought.
Wow, yours is much smoother scrolling than on my Android TV (Shield), I'm envious.
When I bring up the guide, most of the time I can't even find the highlight.
Huh, I didn't realize this was an issue on other platforms. I guess I didn't use the Android TV version enough to notice.
