So your guide suggests I use the search tab to find something fun to record, but exactly where is this search tab?
And when fails to record why don’t it say something?
And if it has recorded something why hasn’t it put it where I wanted it put?

You should see a Search tab next to all the other tabs in the app.
I use Channels DVR app in IOS 11 on iPad Air
The search bar is at the top of the DVR tab.
Ah that’s obvious, if I want to search the guide I don’t do it in the guide I do it in the dvr! Bizarre!
Yes I would prefer the guide search to be on the guide in all the various apps and web viewer. However what about searching recordings? A unified search would be the ideal but where to put it? In the DVR tab as now or in the Guide or a separate Tab of its own?
I think the search is great where it is. The guide is a search itself, and it has filters. I only really use it when I want to look at tuner contention. When trying to find something live, one has the On now and the current column of the guide. The search is really to give you the ability to search the 14-day schedule for things to record.
There isn’t a use case for most people to search the recordings , I don’t think, as a DVR is for time-shifting, and a media library is for longer term storage.
