Hard Drive disconnecting from Nvidia Shield

My hard drive has disconnected from Nvidia shield randomly over last 2 weeks.
It is a 14tb my book with its own power supply.

Any ideas ?

Highly suggest you contact NVIDIA for technical support with the SHIELD.

The SHIELD has proved itself to not be a very good server. I constantly have issues. Sometimes the drive will disconnect but channels can't be to blame. Try the USB port furthest from the HDMI, and try the different USB settings in the SHIELD's settings menu, switching between Auto, performance, and compatibility. Auto is the default setting.

Figured it out here the shield randomly updated to newest version, so had to uninstall and side load dvr…

Hopefully that fixes the issue…

I sort of agree that the Shield can be challenging and is my least stable platform (although I use it a lot and it is a good performer generally). If something goes bump, it is usually on the Shield. But it is one of the few clients that can run the TV client and DVR reasonably well in one box.

I have since set the "Auto Upgrade" to "off" so I can at more easily decide when to get surprised on any updates from Nvidia and manually upgrade. I don't see much I am interested in in their upgrades, but I can also see what is happening to other on their forums.
