Harmony remote with Apple TV and Windows PC

I got a new TV that I can’t get to work with CEC with my A/V receiver. Therefore my Channels mapping on my Harmony remote no longer work. I added a Windows PC to the activity as I’ve seen in the help documents but the remote sends those commands to the PC not the Apple TV (it made me pair the hub with the PC). Am I missing something here? Does this way also require CEC to work? Thanks.

The 'PC' you are connecting to is the Apple TV.

So when it asks you to pair your PC, go to your Apple TV bluetooth settings and connect to 'Harmony Keyboard'.

Oh I thought it meant to connect to my PC. Duh. The ATV is already connected via Bluetooth. I’ll look into it again. Thanks.

So when I set up the key mapping I don’t use “Windows PC” as the device?

No you’d have to use “Windows PC.” What I’m having trouble with I reckon is getting it to send the command to the ATV, which is already paired via Bluetooth and has the Harmony keyboard connected.

Yeah I had some issues like this at one point.

I think from memory I created a new activity from scratch and possibly also deleted the harmony keyboard from the Apple TVs memory before I started again.

Edit:

But yes, your setup should be

  • PC/MAC > connected to Apple TV via bluetooth
  • Apple TV > either IR or also connected to Apple TV via bluetooth
  • TV
  • A/V Receiver

and if your having trouble with the inputs on the screen being the 'TV' number pad instead of the PC/MAC number pad, someone had the same issue
here and wrote a little guide to get it working.

Thanks. I think I finally got it working. I appreciate your help.

One other thing. How do I send a decimal? It doesn’t seem to be mapped in the Windows PC.

Unfortunately I’m not too sure on that one.

No decimals on channels here in Australia so never had the need to look into it.

Okay thanks. I discovered that although the channels do have decimals it doesn’t matter because it accepted just the number before the decimal.

Use dash (-)

Oh okay. Thanks. I didn’t know that was equivalent to decimal. I’ll keep that in mind.
